At least 10 more local and foreign investors are interested to build facilities in the 9,500-hectare (ha) New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said recently.
BCDA President Vivencio Dizon said the companies signified their intention to invest in New Clark City, but he refused to identify them.
”Many expressed interests in investing in other areas. I just can’t share [them] yet,” Dizon said. While a lot of companies already had communications with the BCDA, none of them are on the advanced stage yet, he added.
Nevertheless, Dizon reported a groundbreaking ceremony was expected “late this year” for the $2-billion China Industrial Park. The 500-ha project is contained in a memorandum of understanding signed by the China Gezhouba Group during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the country in November last year.
Apart from this, Dizon bared factories catering to light and medium industries such as those engaged in semiconductor and information technology are expected to rise by next year. The BCDA is avoiding heavy industries in its pursuit of a green and environment-friendly city, he explained.
