To win global competition, policies in the national construction sector must be directed to be faster, cheaper, and better. One of the basic principles that must be done is to apply Building Information Modeling (BIM) or industrial-based construction technology 4.0. BIM is a new method for infrastructure construction that integrates virtual models along with data or technical information.
The advantages of this application are increasing efficiency and accuracy through collaboration between stakeholders, design and development becoming leaner and more transparent, various errors ranging from planning to implementation can be avoided, and the use of materials, equipment, and time to be more optimal.
The Ministry of PUPR has implemented BIM technology on a pilot project in the National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) of Morotai Island, Maluku Islands. The utilization of BIM at Morotai KSPN includes the construction of tourist roads, coastal abrasion retaining infrastructure technology 3B (Linking, Hollow, Standing), and tourist toilets.
