Digitisation and Emergence of Connected Cars

With the digital revolution in full steam and the Internet of Things (IoT) already a reality, it is only fitting for cars to join the list of devices that are connected to the internet and become part of the IoT ecosystem. While the idea of connected-devices and digitisation is at a nascent stage in the automotive sector, cars today are slowly being equipped with automotive embedded systems and only time will tell when they will become communicating objects. With the wealth of possibilities one can do with the car—from in-car infotainment systems to remote diagnostics—it wouldn’t be long till we witness connected cars on our roads.

The Asia IoT Business Platform 2015 is proud to feature PSA Peugeot Citroën, who will be presenting on their game-changing connected car that is equipped with the latest M2M capabilities. Working with Technicolor, PSA Peugeot Citroën became the first automotive partner to deliver connected car services for its Citroen C4 Picasso. The car is enabled with Technicolor’s Qeo communications framework, which provides software and connectivity to greatly enhance interaction between the car and the driver’s personal devices.

Qeo is a software platform that can be used in a variety of connected objects. Its role is to create a virtual network that will serve as the channel for exchanging different types of data. Developed by Technicolor, this technology is backed by several leaders in the electronics industry and could find uses in a wide variety of fields in the next few years. The M2MOperatingPortal allowed for better management of critical remote operations, proving to be scalable and secure.

The speaker, Vincent Rumeau, who is the Connected Cars Program Manager at PSA China, will be sharing his wealth of experience gained from having managed the Connected Services & Telematics strategy for China, as well as the local R&D team, suppliers and external partners.

Join us at the Asia IoT Business Platform 2015 in Jakarta from 25-26 August to get to know more about Connected Cars and other exciting international IoT developments that can be emulated in the Southeast Asian region.
