Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – The Internet of Things (IoT) regulation finally found a bright spot after a protracted process. Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Rudiantara said that he planned to issue IoT regulations in the first quarter of 2019.

“In the first quarter we will issue IoT chip standardization,” Rudiantara said after the Alibaba Cloud event at Mulia Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday (1/9).

According to him, this rule will summarize two standard approaches to radio technology, Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT) technology and long range access (LoRa).

“I want both (can be used). There are two NB approaches that are mostly used by operators but also there are LoRa that are unlicensed, ” said Rudiantara.

After this regulation was born, it is expected that the use of IoT can be applied massively. The Ministry of Communication and Information Ministry of Industry and the Creative Economy Agency are also said to have made an IoT roadmap.

Rudiantara said operator consolidation will be issued at the end of the first quarter.
