Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) priorities guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) have become a key aspect for resilience and sustainable development in ASEAN in recent years. Investors are taking ESG ratings into consideration for their portfolios, and businesses have come to integrate the corresponding metrics into their sustainability agendas. It is important to note however, that ESG ratings, while quantifiable, serve as a framework for corporate governance and investment, and are not wholly representative of sustainability goals.
In ASEAN, businesses are engaged in ESG initiatives and sustainability reporting in accordance with local sustainability disclosure guidelines.
This report features case studies from the finalists of the inaugural ASEAN Tech for Environmental, Social, Governance Awards, where ASEAN enterprises demonstrated how digital tools and technology support initiatives and projects aligned to sustainability goals, with proven impact on sustainability.
